  UG compared to other software,in the industry(regardless of design,copper removal,or programming)has a lot of time...some in other software,change products,parting time takes a long time,in UG can It's very easy to get it done.

  Of course,UG has a lot of application skills in the mold design,mastering these skills,and giving you the same reason,will bring you great convenience in the work,especially in the process of the division of complex products,you can take less detours.Reduce blindness.

  Unfortunately,these techniques are not visible in UG books,because the people who write books are not people in the industry,and often see the same example repeated in different books,copying and copying,and spending a lot of Talk about some of the things that are rarely used in practice,but what you really need is not.

  Therefore,below we talk about the application skills of UG in practice,mainly not in the book,I hope that you can carefully understand the meaning of it,in order to use it flexibly.Of course,everyone should have basic UG modeling knowledge before looking at these things.

  First,the problem of Boolean operation failure:

  In UG operations,it is often encountered that Boolean operations can not be added,can not be reduced,and cut,split failure and other issues.Especially in the case of bad surface,splitting the mold,taking the slider,and the oblique top often encounter such problems,you can try the following methods:

  1.The surface of the tool body is offset or moved a little distance to solve.(Offset or moving distance does not affect the accuracy of processing)

  2.Use the wireframe to display the target body,the tool body,and then do Boolean operations(or cut,split).If you fail,you will find that some of the edges are displayed in red.This is the problem area,which can be divided into problem areas.(ie,divided into two parts),and then Boolean operations,and then extract the problem area,stitch,process,and then patch up,this method can solve most of the Boolean operation failure.(You can also offset the problem surface a little to solve)

  3.Sometimes,the Boolean operation fails,and all can be made into a face,an operation face,and then stitched into a solid.This method can cope with almost all the problems of addition and subtraction failure,but it is also the most troublesome.It is recommended only if there is no move.

  4.Use the solid stitching method to add two objects,first select the common surface,adjust the tolerance to suture.But this way will cause trouble for subsequent operations.


  a.Boolean operations If multiple bodies are generated,the parameters will be lost,which is one reason for the failure of Split_Solid in MW/moldtools.

  b.Use the slice to cut the entity.In the solid area,the slice cannot have the problem of“boundary”or“face self-crossing”.This can be checked by the Face_FaceIntersections and Sheet_Boundaries options in Analysis/ExamineGeometry.

  c.Boolean operations cannot have a"zero thickness"phenomenon.

  d.In Boolean operations,you can"face-to-face,...face-entity".These two options make it easy to fill in the parting.

  Two.UG trimming broken face

  1.Use the Face_FaceIntersections and Sheet_Boundaries options in Analysis/ExamineGeometry to determine the number of boundaries,as well as the specific location of the hole,or the position of the self-facing face.Then use the wireframe display to analyze the boundary line.

  the measures taken:

  A.Face reduction surface:Extract the peripheral surface of the hole,remove the parameters,and then remove the peripheral surface of the hole by Boolean operation,face reduction,and then suture the extracted surface(if necessary,the seam tolerance can be With a slight adjustment),the extracted face can also be enlarged,or trimmed and stitched.If the Boolean operation fails,the faces around the hole can be extracted and Boolean.After Copy has extracted the face,deal with the broken face.Stitch again.

  B.Cut the piece to extract the broken surface or the surrounding surface for backup.Use the TrimmedSheet option to trim the broken or surrounding faces in the original geometry.Then use the backup surface,edit it,and then resume it and stitch it one by one.If the broken surface is a small hole,you can use the option in the"Freeform Surface Features"to manually make the i-body and fill it up.If there are still holes after the stitching,the stitching tolerance can be slightly increased,and after being made into a solid,the functions such as"replace"or"constrained surface"are used for trimming.(Organic trimming is sometimes much easier than the sheet)

  C.Change the broken surface to another color,and the remaining surface colors are made consistent.Then use the MW/moldtool/ExtractFaceRegion option to extract the same color face,open 29 layers,you can see that there is no face to delete,so it is easy to repair.

  D.Sometimes,the IGS diagram turned by other software,the surface has been severely deformed,the outline can be used,and the hand movement surface.If the outline is broken,you can cut these parts and then process them.

  E.If there are a lot of broken faces,you can extract them into pieces one by one,and then stitch them one by one to find the problem.

  F.There are a lot of STP diagrams transferred from other 3D software,and it is analyzed as an entity,but if you look closely,there are holes,which is a geometric problem.At this time,one single piece can be extracted and then stitched one by one to solve.You can also make a patch according to the outline and work your own face.

  G.UG opens the IGS image file output by other software,the effect is not very good,in many cases,there is deformation of the slice body,you can open it with SolidWorks software,save it as x_t format,input UG,then you can find the graphic The quality is greatly improved.

  H.Sometimes,the tolerance of the stitching can be appropriately increased,and the body is artificially stitched into a solid body and then modified in the entity,which is much easier.Remember,if the film is not easy to modify,it can be made into a solid.If the entity is not easy to modify,it can be made into a slice first.
